Handbag of Holding from ThinkGeek.com Review

I wanted to make this post because when I was first thinking about buying this bag I couldn't find any really good reviews on it. My main concern was is it going to be too big? I had previously purchased the larger Bag of Holding from ThinkGeek and as cool as the bag is, it is way too big for everyday use for me and so my search continued for a cool nerd bag. I'm not a girly girl. I've never really carried a purse, and I've been on the hunt for a bag that would fit my personality and hold all my nerd essentials. So when I heard about the new and improved smaller version of the bag I was very interested, but was concerned that it was still going to be too big and wasn't going to be what I wanted. I searched for some reviews and maybe found 2, but they didn't answer any of my concerns. So I'm doing my own review and I hope to cover any questions that anyone could ever possibly have when it comes to this bag.

Behold the Handbag of Holding!

Size:
Here's the bag next to my 17" Alienware laptop just to give you an idea on size. And my laptop is pretty hefty. So my first concern. Is it still to big? Yes and no. The dimensions of the bag are 15 1/2" wide x 11" tall x 4" deep. Honestly I wish it was still a little bit smaller. I really don't need to be carrying a freaking laptop with me. Big enough for a tablet yes. But for a 15" laptop? No. But does the size kill it for me? Na. After using it for over a month now, I've gotten over the size issue. But if they did come out with another version of this bag that was trimmed down to say 13" x 9"  or maybe even a little smaller, I'd be all over it.

Color:
The color is, as they describe it, a taupe (brownish-grey). It's probably not the first choice most of us would chose, but it's really not all that bad. I don't have a problem with it myself, but some people are picky and this could be a problem for them I suppose. The inside of the bag is lined with a lavender color and I LOVE it. Purple is my favorite color so I had no issues this this whatsoever :)

Closures:
The bag snaps shut using magnetic closures. A lot of comments I read from people were concerns about it popping open and not staying closed. I've not had a problem with it at all. The snaps stay closed and the magnets hold pretty tightly. Another concern was about not having a top zipper and things falling out. The zipper thing doesn't bother me although I do see their point about what if it is raining? Your stuff isn't going to be protected. I haven't been caught out in the rain with it yet so I can't really give any real advice when it comes to that other than don't get caught in the rain? lol And as far as things falling out? Haven't had any problems with that either. What are these people doing? Turning the bag upside down all the time?? Plus there's 2 zipper compartments inside the bag so if you're worried about smaller things getting lost or falling out, you can put them in those. Also, without the top zipper it gives you easy access to your stuff. I can easily grab whatever I need without messing with a zipper and making noise every single time. Like when I'm at the movies sneaking my candy and water that I brought in....shhhh XD

Compartments:
There's 14 different pockets, zippers, and compartments in the bag.

  • Padded tablet sleeve with zipper closure: 13" wide x 9 1/2" tall (12" zipper)
  • 2 large, main compartments: 14" wide x 9 1/2" tall x 2" deep
  • 2 outer pockets (both front) with magnetic flap closure: 4" wide x 5" high x 1 1/2" deep
  • 2 document pockets (front and back) with magnetic closure: 14" wide x 8" high
  • 1 zippered compartment inside each document pocket (2 total): 5" square
  • 2 water bottle pockets (sides): 4" wide x 6" high x 2" deep
  • 3 slip pockets (front lining): 5" wide x 6" tall, 3 1/2" wide x 6" tall, 2" wide x 6" tall
  • 1 zippered compartment (back lining): 6" wide x 6" tall
There's also 4 chrome feet that protect the bottom from wear and tear and a double-reinforced baseboard that helps the bag keeps it's shape.

Magical Holding Capabilities:
You'll have no problem keeping things organized or running out of room for all you nerd gear. Look at all the stuff I can fit in this thing! Please note I don't usually run around with all this stuff. It would be too heavy (the bag already weighs 2 pounds on it's own). I just wanted to show you how much stuff you can actually get in here. I could have probably put a few more things in there if I really wanted to lol.

 Whats inside:

  • Lotion
  • Floss
  • Hair ties
  • Tic Tacs
  • Clorox Wipes
  • Tide to Go pens
  • Bag of Bandages
  • Blistex
  • Softlips
  • Ibuprofen
  • Cough drop
  • Peppermint
  • Ink Pen
  • Hand Sanitizer Pen
  • Notebook
  • Comic books
  • iPad Air
  • iPhone
  • Nintendo 3DS XL
  • Magic the Gathering Cards
  • Snacks
  • Compact Mirror
  • Mini Flashlight
  • More Hand Sanitizer
  • Dice
  • Lanyard with Keys
  • Kleenex

  • What would make this bag perfect:
Smaller size (if you really need something that big just use a backpack ya know?)
    Different color choices
Version with top zipper closures (even though this really doesn't bother me)
Removable padded tablet sleeve for when you do need extra room

Overall I'm very happy with this bag. I've never used a bag this much in my life so that tells you something right there lol. I'd recommend it to anyone. If you're interested in purchasing the Handbag of Holding visit the product page over at ThinkGeek.

Luna Lemon Vanilla Protein Bar Review

Luna recently had a promotion where they gave away samples of  2 new flavors of protein bars to some lucky fans. You had to enter your email address and if you were lucky you would get a sample. And I was one of the lucky ones! I got my sample a few days ago and decided to do a quick review. The flavors you could choose were Chocolate Coconut Almond or Lemon Vanilla. Since I hate coconut, I choose Lemon Vanilla.

So here's how it arrived! Cute huh? Packed nice and neat in it's own little nest lol. Now I'm not a nutritionist or anything so I can't give you any advice when it comes to that, but I can say that for 170 calories that's not too bad for a snack and the 12 grams of protein will help curb your hunger between meals. I've recently lost 20 pounds so I know a little bit when it comes to calories and snacking hehe. For those of you that may be interested here's a link to the nutrition facts for this particular flavor.

As far as the taste goes, it wasn't as lemony as I was expecting it to be. I guess the vanilla helps balance it out. The texture is chewy with just a hint of a crunch inside the soft nougat like center. It wasn't overly sweet. It didn't leave a bad aftertaste. And it leaves you feeling full and satisfied! Oh and did I mention it's gluten free! If you'd like to learn more about Luna Bars visit there website or check them out on Facebook. Until next time :)

smiley360 - Try products for free and share your reviews with your friends via social media!

Smiley360 is a website that gives you the opportunity to try out products for free and in return you spread the word via social media or word of mouth and let all of your friends and family know your experience with the products. The more sharing you do the more products you get to try out. The way the website works can be a bit confusing for first timers so I will try and explain as best I can to get you guys as many missions as possible :)

Yes "missions". This is just the name for the programs where you get to try a new product. Usually you will receive an offer via email to take a survey to see if you qualify for a mission. If you qualify you will get a email and a link to your mission page where you can start your sharing. You will receive your Smiley kit in the mail that contains the free product, a sharing guide, and sometimes coupons, extra information, and additional products to help you complete your mission. Then you try the product and use the Smiley360 sharing tools to tell everyone what you thought!

During each mission you are awarded "smiles". Smiles are their rewards system. This is what they use to see who is actually following through and sharing their opinions and writing reviews. Most missions have the potential to award 50 smiles total:
    • 10 Smiles for sharing via Facebook
    • 10 Smiles for sharing via Twitter
    • 10 Smiles for Face2Face (more on this below)
    • 10 Smiles for ClickThru (more on this below)
    • 10 Smiles for Smiley360 Connect (more on this below)
The more smiles you earn the more opportunities to get missions . If you finish a mission and get zero smiles, the less likely you will be chosen for future missions :(

    More on Sharing
    • Face2Face - This is basically word of mouth. If you talked to a coworker or a family member about the product you tried you can fill out the form and write about what you talked about and what their reaction was and this counts as part of your sharing and you receive smiles for this. You can submit this form every time you talk to someone new! (up to 10 smiles)
    • ClickThru - This is where you will share a link on a website or blog post and earn 1 smile for every person that clicks the link. (up to 10 smiles)
    • Smiley360 Connect -  This is another part of their site where members get to voice their opinions on name brands. Adding content to this part of the site gets you smiles.
I recently had the opportunity to get into 2 missions (Oral-B Black 7000 Electric Toothbrush and Veet Infini'Silk Permanent Hair Reduction System), but unfortunately I was not chosen. I'm hoping that with the start of summer that they will have a lot of new programs to offer and I will have a better shot of getting into some missions. Maybe you guys will have better luck ;) To sign up for Smiley360 go HERE and check them out on FACEBOOK. Good luck with your missions!!

Impresd - Send free samples to your friends!

So this is my first blog post. Thought I'd give it a shot. I've really gotten into free samples and trying new products lately and thought I would share my experience with whoever would listen. And if no one read this eh who cares lol. Thought I would talk about this new website I came across just a couple nights ago called Impresd. It's "a social gifting platform that enables users to recommend and send FREE product samples directly to their friends homes". Seems like a pretty neat concept. They actually joined Facebook at the end of April, but I believe the actual launch with the website and product gifting went live 5/28/14. I joined later that day and missed out on the actual gifting, but they say that more products will be available soon. You can click on "Upcoming" and it will show you the upcoming gifts that will be available in the future and gives you the option of being notified when the gifts go live.

I can't wait to be able to send and receive gifts from Facebook friends. This is a really neat way to try new products. You guys should go check out the website and like them on Facebook . Sign up on the site and be ready for when the next batch of samples are released! Once the site gets going and I'm able to send and or receive some gifts I'll do another post and let you know how the whole process works :)
